Little Pets Hotel is Moving

I have recently put my house up for sale as we are planning to move down to Wiltshire. Although we have not sold yet, I am no longer taking bookings for boarding of any indoor animals. Because of having viewers in to look around the house all of the time, we need it to be as spacious and tidy as possible so I am having to stop taking pets in while we sell (I am still taking bookings for hutch animals but not too far in advance in case we suddenly sell and I wouldn't want to let anybody down). With the way the market is at the moment, chances are we won't sell quickly (it could easily take a year or more) and so if you are going away, please feel free to get in touch and I will make a note of any dates that you are wanting boarding and get in touch with you closer to the time to see if you still need the booking. However, I will not be able to guarantee boarding more than 2 months in advance in case we suddenly sell. Of course you may want to find somebody else or a backup plan in case we have moved by the time of your holiday rather than waiting until two months before.

I will be continuing the business when we move but as we are moving so far away, I don't imagine that many people would want to travel that far! Sorry I can't give you definite bookings more than 2 months in advance but I wouldn't want to promise and then let you down at a later date. If you do have a holiday planned however, please do get in touch and let me know the dates as soon as you know them as bookings will still be taken on a first come first served basis. I will then let you know 2 months before your holiday if I can confirm the booking or not.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everybody for their business over the past few years and I will really miss all of my furry and feathered guests. I wish I could take them all down to Wiltshire with me!

Love is in the air this Valentine's Day

Staying with me this week are a pair of rabbits that really are head over heels in love this Valentine's Day. Tubby is a an absolutely gorgeous male rabbit who has been to stay with me before. He didn't have a very good start to life, ending up in a rescue home at an early age and then developing health problems leaving him almost completely blind. However, he was adopted and given a very loving home where he has been given lots of care and attention but now his life has just got even better! He now has a lady friend to share his life with! Nutmeg was introduced to Tubby by local rabbit rescue Fat Fluffs in Solihull. They provide an excellent service where they take your pet rabbit in for a few days to find them a suitable companion that they really get on with. They are all neutered so you can find a friend for your lonely bunny without any worry of babies. Rabbit introductions can be tricky and so they do all the initial hard work for you, making sure that the bunnies really hit it off before you take them home.

This Valentine's Day is a special one for Tubby and Nutmeg.

Christmas Bookings Now Being Taken

Christmas is approaching fast once again and as always I am happy to board your pets over the Christmas period. The xmas prices have just gone up on the website so have a look and once you know your boarding dates book your pets in asap. As it is such a hectic time of year, I keep numbers low over Christmas in order to still be able to give all the animals as much time and attention as they deserve so you need to book early if you want to guarantee a place.

Summer Holidays Filling Up Fast

Now is the time of year that people begin to book their summer holidays and the bookings are coming in fast for the school holidays already this year. Get in early if you want to guarantee that I can look after your pets (especially if you are going away in August as it is always the busiest time of year). As soon as you know your holiday dates, send me an email, text or give me a ring and get your animals booked in at Little Pets Hotel. I keep my numbers low so that I can give every animal in my care the attention that they need. So to avoid disappointment, book your pet's boarding as soon as you book your own holiday.

Three New Residents

Three new permanent residents arrived at Little Pets Hotel last weekend. Hugo, Diego and Carlos are my 3 new bundles of joy!

They are rescued Chinchillas aged 1, 2 and 6 years, all unwanted by previous owners, they have been given a new happy home with us at Little Pets Hotel, where they will be just as spoilt as all of my guests. So far, they have settled in really well and are gradually growing in confidence, with their individual personalities really starting to come through now. Hugo (on the left) is the greedy one who sneaks down to the food to get his fill whilst the other two are sleeping, Carlos (in the middle) is the wise one who sits and watches from up high with disapproval as Diego (on the right) bounds around causing trouble and getting his nose into everything!

Having always wanted Chinchillas, and having had every other type of small animal as a pet at some point or another, I am really pleased to have my 3 furry and very cute additions to the household!

End of a Busy Summer

The end of the busy summer season is here, and things at Little Pets Hotel begin to slow down for the quieter winter. This summer, as always, I have had some real characters in. Here are just a few of my favourite guests:

Sparkle
Meet 17 year old Sparkle the Cockatiel from Birmingham, West Midlands. He is a really cheeky chap whose favourite place in the world is on your head! He has a really cute but enthusiastic whistle, making it sound like you have builders in the house! We really missed him when he went home.

Harvey
Very sweet 3.5 month old Harvey came to stay in August and really stole my heart. Just at that perfect age where he is confident and mischievous but still so small and fluffy!

Charlie
2 year old African Grey Parrot, Charlie, from Kidderminster, Worcestershire is a real chatterbox. I have never laughed so much as when he came to stay. With no end of phrases, different voices and his love of playing ball, Charlie Barley always made me smile.

Nibbles & Crackers
These two 6month old girls came to stay in July from Kidderminster, Worcestershire. Such gentle girls, but they turned into munching machines whenever they were put out on the lawn!

Leo
14 year old Leo from Hagley, near Stourbridge, is a gentle old boy who, apart from a bit of arthritis, shows little signs of his old age. Leo is an absolutely huge rabbit who loves to snuggle up with you on the sofa but he knows what he wants and is not shy to let you know when he wants to go back in his hutch with a few stomps of his feet!

Coco
Coco the male ferret from Bromsgrove, Worcestershire came to stay in August. Not keen on being woken up and like all ferrets he is all or nothing. Fast asleep or wide awake, never anything in between! Coco is a very sweet but very lazy boy!

Matilda
Matilda the Lionhead bunny from Stratford-upon-Avon is a houserabbit who instantly felt at home. Absolutely gorgeous and the sweetest, most gentle personality, Matilda was really missed when she went back home to Warwickshire. Mornings were not the same without Matilda nudging my ankles with her nose whenever I stopped stroking her for a second to get ready for work!

Melvin & Parsnip
Such sweethearts who love nothing more than a cuddle but two of the laziest animals that I have ever met. The only thing that will get these lazy Guinea Pigs moving is food!!

Molly
Molly the hamster from Birmingham, West Midlands, absolutely loves exploring, whether in her exercise ball or roaming around on the table, the energetic Molly never stops for a rest!

All of the pets that have been to stay this year have been so lovely. So many sweet, playful, and adorable animals have been to stay with us that I cannot put them all on here so I have had to pick out just a handful. I hope that all of them come back to see us soon.

Rabbit Awareness Week

The 26th April - 2nd May is Rabbit Awareness Week (also known as RAW). RAW was designed because rabbits are often seen as an easy pet to keep that need little attention and so they can be overlooked. They are easily overshadowed in the home as well as in the public eye (such as vets and pet shops) by the more demanding pets such as dogs and cats. RAW aims to raise awareness for rabbit care and health and to bring rabbits into the limelight for a week. The hope is to remind rabbit owners of the importance of checking the health of their pet and gives some pointers on what to look for and signs of an unhealthy rabbit.

This year, RAW is focusing on rabbit obesity. Advice is being given about diet, exercise, the health implications to overweight rabbits, how to check if your rabbit is obese, and how to help it to lose weight. One in three rabbits in the UK are obese so if you have a pet rabbit then take the time to look up this information and give your bunny a health check.

For more information about RAW and rabbit health, go to www.rabbitawarenessweek.co.uk

As a part of Rabbit Awareness Week, events are being run around the country and a large number of veterinary surgeries are running free bunny clinics where your rabbit can get a full health check for free, checking his/her weight, teeth, nails, etc.

Near Little Pets Hotel, Vale Veterinary Surgery on the Birmingham Rd in Kidderminster is running a free rabbit health check service throughout Rabbit Awareness Week. Just For Pets (near B&Q and next door to Netto) is having a "Bunny Bonanza Day" on Sunday 2nd May. As well as a raffle, kids activities and goody bags, they will have a vet nurse in between 12-1pm who will give a talk and a question and answer session for all of your bunny questions. The RSPCA are also running a national campaign during RAW to try to rehome numerous rabbits that have been found abandoned over the Easter period.

To find other vets running rabbit health clinics and talks, as well as other bunny events happening near you go to www.rabbitawarenessweek.co.uk/event-locator and enter your postcode.

“Mollie Lloyd has looked after our Cockatoo on three occassions this year. We are very pleased with the service that Mollie provides. We now never feel guilty for leaving our bird, also named Molly. We look at it as our bird is going on holiday as well as us. The attention she receives is superb and she always comes home to greet us with a new word.

Bob & Sheila, Worcestershire.

“On arrival, it was apparent that all pets were made to feel at home, and on dropping Fluffy and Belle off, we felt very happy that they were going to be well looked after and that their individual needs would be catered for.

Helen, Hagley near Stourbridge

“My two rabbits were looked after so well, I didn't worry about them while I was on holiday as I just knew they were being looked after and having lots of fuss. I cannot fault Little Pets Hotel.

Sarah, Kidderminster.

“Mollie Lloyd has looked after our Australian Galah on numerous occasions when we have been on holiday. We have been very happy with the care and attention given to our bird and will certainly use her services in the future.

David & Val, Wolverley.

“Super care. We needed a vet - unfortunately - during our stay, and Mollie did more than we could ever have asked for, whilst keeping us updated at all times.

Helen, Hagley near Stourbridge

“Both rabbits came home calm, relaxed and unstressed - they can't talk but that tells me they had an excellent week of attentive care, so thank you!

Lisa, Cleobury Mortimer nr Bewdley
